Benjamin Mather

Practice Principal  |  APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

MClinPhys (Manip Physio), BSc (Physio)

Ben started Stack St Physio following 6 seasons working for the Western Force rugby union team, the last three of those in a full time capacity as Senior & Rehab Physiotherapist. Ben has over ten years experience as a physio, having completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy degrees through Curtin University. He has worked for eight years in private practice here in Perth, across various professional sporting codes, consultancy, and teaching through Curtin University.

Ben's experience lies in sports injury management, with accuracy in diagnosis, manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation some of his strengths. Managing the rehabilitation program at Western Force has given Ben exposure to a wide range of injury presentations and allowed him to formulate high level exercise plans to return athletes in their best shape. Ben has provided physiotherapy services to the entertainment industry over a number of years, having been lucky enough to tour to Los Angeles and Dublin with singer Pink, work with the likes of John Cleese, Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga in Perth, and manage the touring demands of international circus and performance theatre groups for the Perth International Arts Festival over five years. Ben has particular interests in ACL rehabilitation, shoulder rehabilitation and management of muscle and tendon injuries.

Having returned to private practice in 2017, Ben is really enjoying once again working with people from all walks of life. At Stack St Physio, Ben's vision is to provide the best physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation services in the wider Fremantle area.

In addition to Stack St Physio, Ben also has a part time role at Fiona Stanley Hospital as an Advanced Scope Physiotherapist, managing musculoskeletal pain and orthopaedic injuries in the Emergency Department.

Outside the clinic, Ben will run or lift weights, continue with never-ending house renovations, tinker with an old caravan, surf when able, hunt down new music, go on road trips, spend time with his family and friends and try to find some quiet spaces in between it all.
